Hello and welcome

Yes I've done it again. I headed up to a hill in day light so I could join with the Southeast Sunday Morning SSB Net.

The net was on the 14/06/2026 and is chaired by James JS 7, it can be found on FCC/Mid-Block channel 28 (27.285 MHz) on USB. It starts from 10:00 and runs to 11:30 - 12:00 Midday.

I headed up to Maidenhead Grin location JO-01-BF-78 or York Hill in Kent, and set up the Alinco DX-70 powered by a car battery and Solarcon A-99.

I was a bit late calling in, so missed the Spanish station being passed round, but overall it was a great morning for chat local and DX.

Here is my list of stations I worked. There must have been 3 times or more stations on the net.

TWR 180 - Trevor - Rochester - Kent
TM 204 - John - ?
LR 77 - Bob - Polhill - Kent
ET 01 - Jeff - Chislehurst - Kent
CAM 17 - John - Bluebell Hill -Kent
GE 2020 - Matt - Butts Brow - East Sussex
RC 233 - Colin - Wickford - Essex
XR 41 - Jerry - Bo Peep - East Sussex
GE 67 - Richard - Paddock Wood - Kent
UK 175 - Wayne - Wadhurst - East Sussex
DDB 5- - Allan - Redhill - Surrey - Heard only
JS 7 - James - Bluebell Hill - Kent - In the Chair

Thank you to James for running the net on a day when the conditions were challenging.

I am planning to be at Ford Airfield Market carpark on Saturday between 1100 and 1200 BST approximately, working through MB7ITT at Tangmere on 2 meters FM. I hope to speak with some of you over the next few days. More information at https://gota.freestar.network/ 73 from Ed M0MNG/p.

Quote from: Jonny5's on Jun 11, 2026, 07:37 PMYeah it's been mad the last few days, just spoke with Colin 108db52 Aberdeen, funny thing is, last night I couldn't hear the person that the Scottish station was talking to near Gatwick but Scotland was 5/9 +. The SSB net will be an interesting one this eve!
It's often the case that you can hear distant stations but not those a few miles away. I wonder if it's partly due to you having a horizontal/'V' type antenna, verticals are generally better for local stations.

As for the SSB net last night, I had so much static (S7) that I only heard two stations the strongest was KP441 near Steyning & Ray at Radio Corner who was just making it over the noise! ::)
