A partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK on 12 August, marking the most complete eclipse seen since 1999.
The moon will block most of the sun's light, with about 90 per cent coverage in London and 95 per cent in the South West – the best place in the UK to view the eclipse.
The eclipse begins with 'first contact' (when the moon begins to cover the sun) just after 6pm, with the peak occuring just after 7pm; the eclipse will end just after 8pm.

Let's hope so Jacky, and will probably silence the birds for a while. ;D

It was a pleasure to see the last solar éclipse of my life with my wife and my son.
But i find that in 1999 the éclipse was much spectacular.

Yes 1999 was spectacular & very spooky. :o
I was on my way to work & people were saying "It's the end of the world". ;D

I was in Penzance for the 1999 eclipse.

I remember the sky getting darker, the Seagulls and all the birds going quiet, and the temperature rapidly dropping

Then after the height of the eclipse, as the moon slowly revealed the sun, the birds came to life, things warmed up and everything got back to normal, the world didn't end 😃

Here are a couple of my photos taken through a welding glass.

Hence the green tint.
