Welcome one & all

Here is my report for the Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net, held on the evening of Thursday 25-09-2025.

My set up for the night was a Sirio Performer 5000 antenna and a older version of the Anytone AT-6666 powered by a car battery 🔋.
I don't use any amp's or power mic's, this reduces the chance of something going wrong or failing.

The weather for the night was cool, clear and breezy.
The band conditions was like last week wall to wall stateside coming in.

My location was Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌲 Forest in the county of East Sussex. This is about 13 miles Southeast of Gatwick Airport and about 32 miles South of the capital London.

The net is held on FCC channel 39 LSB or 27.395 MHz and is scheduled to start at 20:30 Hrs 🕣. But on this night it started a 21:00 Hrs 🕚 due to my work commitments.

Now on with bit everybody reads.
Here is the list of check in's and who heard and or worked who.
All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Stats for the night
18 in the log
2 countries work
1 London borough worked
4 UK counties worked
2 American States worked

Due to the noise and skip, a question was asked. Would the net move to another channel while the skip is up?
What do you think? Should the net have a back up channel/frequency and where should it be.

Here is my report for the Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net held on Thursday 23rd of October 2025.

My working conditions were the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic) powered by a car battery 🔋 and the return of the Solarcon A99 antenna up on a 3m pole.

The band conditions again were full of 2 & 9 division which faded away as the night went

My location was in the camper van, parked up in Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex
The weather was cold and windy with moisture in he air.

The net is scheduled to start at 20:30 🕣 and finish anytime from 23:00 🕚
But tonight, it started a bit later due to the chair arriving late.

The net is held on channel 39, on band D on some radio's or 27.395 MHz. The mode is Lower Side Band.

Here is my list of check in's and who worked and or heard who.

Stats for the night

13 in the log
4 counties worked
1 London Borough worked
2 Steve's called in
2 coffee drank
2 tea cakes & crumpets eaten.

With the net being quiet, it allowed for a bit more chat, which caused somebody suggested a fun, spur of the moment idea.

Lets have a 10m test net.
With everybody calling in, in agreement with the idea, a frequency of 28.560 USB was chosen and off we went.
