"All a board, the last PMR net of October"

It's time for another episode of "Ray Reviews" the Monday Night Channel 14 PMR Net, held on the 27th of October 2025.

Did you know, that if you were born on this date. You share your birthday with a Monty Python star and the man who made thrashing a red 1967 Morris Countryman a thing.

My working conditions for the night was the much talked about CRT Space U (which must be due for a version 2?), powered by a car battery 🔋 and the 1/4 wave GPA up on a fibreglass pole

The weather started with a cool breeze and cloudy, and as the night went on the temperature did drop and the wind picked up, making it colder by the end of the net.

The net is scheduled to start at Eight Thirty 🕣 in the evening and goes on until Eleven 🕚 or longer 🕐.

My location was a different corner of Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex.

The net is held on analogue channel 14 and does use any kind of tones for access. This makes the net open to all.

Here is the list of call in's and who heard and or worked who.

Wilma--Shelley--Shotgun with shaggy 🥇
R J--Reigate Town--Surrey--Using a Handy

CT 4362--Chris--Reigate Town--Surrey
and me
CT 2290--Ray--Ashdown 🌳 Forest--East Sussex--In the Chair 💺

Thank you all who called in, thank you to the listening stations and thank you to the very helpful advice regarding my faulty boiler.

The scores on the doors

1 camper staying overnight and not on the net
16 in the log
3 counties worked
4 stations using handie's

That brings this "Rays Review" to an end, best 73

Here is my report for the Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net held on Thursday 23rd of October 2025.

My working conditions were the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic) powered by a car battery 🔋 and the return of the Solarcon A99 antenna up on a 3m pole.

The band conditions again were full of 2 & 9 division which faded away as the night went

My location was in the camper van, parked up in Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex
The weather was cold and windy with moisture in he air.

The net is scheduled to start at 20:30 🕣 and finish anytime from 23:00 🕚
But tonight, it started a bit later due to the chair arriving late.

The net is held on channel 39, on band D on some radio's or 27.395 MHz. The mode is Lower Side Band.

Here is my list of check in's and who worked and or heard who.

TW 460--Richard--Tunbridge Wells--Kent 🥇
RHP 285--Steve--Reigate Hill--Surrey
Pyro--Jay--Reigate Hill--Surrey--Shotgun with Steve
CT 1829--Dean--Edenbridge--Kent
CT 4515--John--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex
TC 156--Steve--Gatwick--West Sussex
CT 1829--Dean--Edenbridge--Kent

GT 67--Danny--Crawley--East Sussex
OP 525--Dennis--Mereworth--Kent
and me
CI 2290--Ray--Ashdown 🌳 Forest--East Sussex--In the Chair 💺

Thank you all who called, thank you to the listening stations and sorry if you tried to call in and wasn't heard or tuned away and didn't the invite to join in.

Stats for the night

13 in the log
4 counties worked
1 London Borough worked
2 Steve's called in
2 coffee drank
2 tea cakes & crumpets eaten.

With the net being quiet, it allowed for a bit more chat, which caused somebody suggested a fun, spur of the moment idea.

Lets have a 10m test net.
With everybody calling in, in agreement with the idea, a frequency of 28.560 USB was chosen and off we went.

Following the Southern area & South Coast 11M SSB Net the net controller tried his radio on 10M. Toby M0KXU supervised Ray CI2290 to run a small test net on 28.350MHz.

Here is the lovely QSL card I was sent by John M7RLP/CT4515, thanks John!

The schedule on the ISS has created a conflict with this weekend's planned SSTV event.
Due to some EVA's (spacewalks) the ARISS Series 30 SSTV event will be rescheduled.  It's now targeted for mid-November.
