Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net / Re: SSB Net
Last post by Razz229 - Sep 21, 2025, 09:01 PM
Hello and greetings to all

Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net held on Thursday 18-09-2025.

The net can be found FCC channel 39 or 27.395 MHz and is on LSB. The net is scheduled to start at 20:30 🕣 UK time and goes on to 23:00 🕚 and beyond.

My set up for the night was the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic), powered by a car battery 🔋, push about 40 watts max into and out of a Sirio Performer 5000 antenna on a mag mount.

The weather was cool, windy with clouds and the band conditions were zany, crazy, mad, hectic, busy with long and short skip mixed in with some ground wave.

My location for the net was Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌴 Forest in the county of East Sussex, which is about 30 miles south of the capital London, and it's most notable resident is Winne the Pooh, Christopher Robin and Tigger too!

Now on with the list of check in's and who heard and worked who.
All stations or 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Thank you all who called, with so much skip about that lasted most of the night, I was pleasantly surprised by all who called and support the net.
If you tried to call in through the skip, and didn't make due to the super strong American stations. Give it another go another week and maybe try a bit later in the might once the skip has calmed down.

Here are the stats for the night.

3 Countries worked
3 American states worked
6 UK counties worked

Not a bad night

Hello all and welcome

Here is the 1st episode of "Ray Reviews" of the 11th year of the South Coast PMR net. This net was sponsored by BISCUITS 🍪

The net can be found on PMR analogue channel 14 (446.16875 MHz) and doesn't use any kind of CTCSS, DCS, privacy or access tones. This makes the net open to all, even the IQ0 village idiots.

My set up for the night was the £1 pound mag mount and the CRT SPACE U powered by a car battery 🔋

Net is scheduled to start at 20:30 or eight thirty 🕣 in the evening and finishes anytime form 23:00 or eleven o'clock 🕚 onwards

My location was the Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex. For new readers that is POTA ref GB-0251 or is it GB-0095?

The weather was cold, clear, and lucky for us we only had gusty winds from the storm.

So with the when, where, what time, why and the weather recorded. On with the bit most people want to see & read.
The check in's and who heard and worked who.

Thank you all who called in and to the listening station. If you are a listening station, why not take the next step and call in? You don't need a callsign or CB handle, just something like Windy Miller, Camberwick Green, Trumptonshire as an example.

Now here is a change for you, my favourite reader, to suggest any changes or ideas that could be added to future  episodes of "Ray Reviews"

That about brings this episode of "Ray Reviews" to an end.

Hello all

Here is my report for the net held on Thursday 11th of September.

My location for the Southern Area & South Coast Net was a cold, dark Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in East Sussex, were the wind was blustery keeping cloud cover down to about 25%. This allowed the Waning Gibbous Moon 🌖 to be seen in the sky

The net can be found on channel 39 LSB on the "mids" or 27.395 MHz, and is scheduled to start at 20:30 🕣

My set up for the night was the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic), powered by a car battery 🔋, and a Sirio Performer 5000 stuck on the roof with a mag mount.

Here is the list of check in's and who heard and or worked who.

Thank you all called in.
The band conditions for most of the night were horrible, my signal meter was showing a constant 2 bars of noise, snaps, beeps, crackles, tones, pops, and voices from around the world and beyond.
Sorry if you tried and wasn't heard due to the aforementioned conditions.
