South Coast PMR net / Re: Monday PMR Net
Last post by Razz229 - Apr 14, 2026, 09:44 PM
Hello and good day to you, my favourite reader.

He is another exhilarating episode of "Ray Reviews" the South Coast, Channel 14, Monday Night PMR Net held on the 13th of April 2026.

My set up for the night was the CRT SPACE U, which I and others think is way over due for an upgrade, powered by a car battery 🔋 and the "Dean" made di-pole on a fibreglass pole.

The net can be found on PMR analogue channel 14. No silly access tones or CTCSS codes are used, this makes the net open to all, regardless of radio knowledge or radio used, and don't think you need a callsign, you don't.

My location for the net was Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex. The weather was cold and clear, giving an uninterrupted view of the clear sky. The temperature remained around the 5 degree C mark with a chilly wind making it feel a lot colder.

The net is scheduled to start at 20:30 🕢 or thereabouts and can finish anytime from 23:00 🕙 onwards.

With the when, where, what time and why out the way, on with the list of check in's and who worked and or worked who.

MILLS ON THE AIR 2026 – 9TH – 10TH MAY
Hello!
Registrations for the 30th Anniversary year of Mills on the Air are going really well and at the time of writing, we are officially at 60 sites worldwide. These include Operators from all over the UK, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Bulgaria, Belgium, The United States of America and Canada and more!
This event has been a staple part of the Radio Amateur calendar since 1996 and continues to go from strength to strength.
It's a fantastic, low pressure event that is a great day out for the whole club and your families!
It's all about getting out to your local Wind or Watermill (Or other type of Mill... we have both horse and gas mills this year!), showing them a little support and sharing the hobby with a whole new set of people that may not know about it!
What do you need to do?
1. Find your local Mill. This can be a working mill, a non working mill or even a former mill site! If there is historical evidence a mill existed there, it becomes a valid site to work from! If you are unsure where your nearest mills are, message us and we can help find them!
2. Get permission to operate from there. We can offer support with this if needed. But please remember, if the mill says no, they've said no for a reason.
3. Survey the site. By this we mean make sure it meets your needs first of all... Does it have a loo you can use, is the space you are planning to operate from suitable, can you get on and off site easily or are there restrictions? At the same time, you need to do a Risk Assessment. This is for your records, not ours.
4. Register for an NOV if you are going that route. (NOV is Notice of Variation, in the UK this can be obtained by contacting OFCOM and is available to the appropriate level of licence holder)
5. Register with us! We can then research and write a site history, share where you will be and help get the local public excited about visiting you and the mill for National Mills Weekend!
Simple really!
So, if you would like to know more about the event, please do follow the page for updates.
Registrations can be made at nharg.org.uk/mota
If you have any questions, please do feel free to get in touch and we will answer them as swiftly as we can!
Open to all bands
Open to all Modes including DMR and FT8
Awards available for SWL as well as contact awards
Event runs in conjunction with S.P.A.B's National Mills Weekend
OH! and if POTA or SOTA is your main jam? Many of the Mill sites that are eligible to take part are within parks or on high ground that can be classed as a Summit. So, you could.... Get yourself a twofer!

I'm glad you had a good day Ray, good luck with the microphone. I can't help with that as I only know about the KPO which in my experience is good.
