Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net / Re: SSB Net
Last post by Razz229 - Jul 12, 2025, 03:37 PM
Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net held on Thursday 10-07-2025

My location for the net, was 1 of the many car parks on Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex, which is about 30 miles South of the capital London. The weather was cool and clear with a soft gentle breeze and as the night went on a full was seen rising in he sky.

The net can be found on channel 39 on the CEPT/FCC allocation and uses the mode of LSB.

My set up was my old trusty Anytone AT-6666 (no amps no power mic), powered by a car battery 🔋 and a Solarcon A-99 antenna sending out about 40 watts of peak power.

The net is scheduled to start at 20:30 Hrs, but tonight it was a bit late due to a visit from Dean CT 1829, Tim GEB 1224 and Andy CT 4610, and finishes anytime from 23:00 Hrs.

The band conditions were noisy with the normal tones, whistles, snap, crackles, pops and Europe being heard.

Now for my list of check in's and who worked and or heard who. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

South Coast PMR net / Re: Monday PMR Net
Last post by Razz229 - Jul 12, 2025, 09:06 AM
Hi all and welcome

Here is another episode of "Ray Reviews" the Monday Night Channel 14 South Coast PMR net held on the night of 7th of July 2025.

or

"Grumpy people should keep their mouths shut when whinging on the radio, because those they are whinging about could be listening"

My location for the night was Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌲 Forest in the county of East Sussex, which is about 3 miles to the West of Crowborough, the once home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The net can be found on the one four (not the CB 14 calling channel), but PMR analogue channel 14 or 446.16875 MHz. We don't use any kind of access codes or DCS/CTCSS tones, this makes the net open to all.
YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO HAVE A CALLSIGN OR HANDLE TO JOIN IN. Just patience if it's busy or there is a "LIFT" on.

My set up was the CRT SPACE U powered by a car battery 🔋, and a homemade 1/4 wave antenna on a pole swaying in the breeze

The weather was clear giving all on Radio Corner a sunset worthy of a picture or 2 and cooled with a gentle breeze.
As the net progressed through the night, the 3/4 moon 🌔 moved from the East to West chasing the sun from the sky.

Before my list of who called in, the net is scheduled to start at 20:30 Hrs 🕣 and finish at 23:00 Hrs 🕚, but, it can go on to midnight and sometime beyond.

Now we know the when, where and what time. It's time to list the check in's and who heard and or worked who.

So in no order. . . . .

A special thank you to the following who came up to see Radio Corner, say hello and chat.
Keith CT 69, Luke and Mike who are some of the famous "listening stations" and Martin H for bringing up Matt (sometimes in a field or the garage)

Thank you all who called and sorry if you tried and wasn't heard or missed.

While the net as on, the ISS went over and a couple of amateurs were heard using it.

That wraps up this episode.

CB & PMR446 / Martin H
Last post by CT4013 - Jul 08, 2025, 08:09 PM
It seems that Ray (2290) has re-ignited the interest in PMR again for Martin.
He is on Beachy Head this evening calling CQ, to my knowledge he has contacted Nigel(CVM), Toby (T187), Andy (CT4610) and myself so far.

Shame I had to switch off at 8pm. ::)
